This policy underpins our Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) and aligns with the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF), Nigerian regulations, and international standards such as the IFC Performance Standards and ILO Core Labor Conventions.

Our Commitments

Environmental Stewardship

  • Conduct Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) or screening.

  • Prevent pollution, promote biodiversity, and manage hazardous materials safely.

  • Apply climate-resilient and resource-efficient practices throughout operations.


Social Responsibility

  • Engage communities transparently throughout project lifecycles.

  • Prevent displacement where possible; ensure fair compensation if unavoidable.

  • Promote gender equity, inclusion, and support for vulnerable groups.


 Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEA/SH)

  • Sunhive maintains zero -tolerance stance on SEA/SH

  • All staff, contractors, and third parties must adhere to our Code of Conduct, which prohibits SEA/SH.

  • Confidential reporting channels will be provided, and all grievances will be addressed in a survivor-centered, culturally sensitive manner.

  • Training on SEA/SH prevention is mandatory for employees and partners.

Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)

  • Provide safe working conditions and certified Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Train staff and contractors on hazard management and emergency response.

  • Investigate and document incidents to drive continuous improvement.

Labor Rights and Ethics

  • Adhere to the Nigerian Labour Act and ILO conventions.

  • Prohibit forced labor, child labor, and all forms of workplace discrimination.

  • Maintain accessible, confidential grievance mechanisms.

Stakeholder Engagement & Grievance Redress

  • Operate a transparent and accessible Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM).

  • Maintain respectful, responsive relationships with host communities.

Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor environmental and social performance through KPIs, audits, and regular reviews.

  • Provide ongoing training to staff, partners, and contractors.

  • Review and update this policy annually or when significant changes occur.

This policy applies to all Sunhive operations, staff, contractors, and third-party partners across all project phases from planning to decommissioning.
